Today JM of New Bedford is insulating a large house in Fairhaven.  This house is a large two story with some stone siding.  To insulate the home properly, JM of New Bedford is re-insulating the attic, we are wet spraying the open stud spaces to the walls that have been gutted, and we are drilling and blowing the remainder of the walls that haven’t been torn out.  The walls will have an R value of 16 (in a four inch stud space), and the attic will now have an R value of 38.  The owners of the house are also working with us through the utility company to receive a rebate on the insulation.  They will receive $2,000 worth of insulation measures through this program and will receive another 10% of the adjusted cost off their federal taxes this upcoming year.  The expected time it will take for this couple to receive the money they spent on insulation measures back through fuel savings is about 2-3 years.
